Bio:
My work as a photographer has followed a number of different paths over the years.
The effects of light and the sky constitute one path for my work. Light is capable of thoroughly transforming an object or a scene, resulting in a type of allegorical feeling. As a corollary to this, I find shadows evocative and intriguing; they indicate the presence of something not visible in the image. Since I am a linguist by training, language in all its forms is very interesting to me. I am also always glad when I come upon things that appeal to my sense of humor in unexpected places. My photographs often contain words as well as unexpected and incongruous subjects. The little accordion books I’ve been making for the past two years have proven to be a fun medium for portraying these themes. |
