Bio: For quite a few years I have been working on combining my photography with other mediums. Developing my current series, "InterUrban Reflections," has allowed me to expand my relationship to my environment and explore how this is connected to my work. I work in photo mixed media using a process that combines the still photograph image with the more tactile surface sense of paintings and drawings. Pieces often begin before I even realize it. Instantly there is a relationship to the image when the camera ‘clicks,’ but this is not allowed to develop until the image is pulled from the vast quantity of imagery and chosen to be used in a mixed media piece. There are a lot of different patterns that emerge in my work, from use of materials to quality of line, both of which are a response to the image as well as the texture of the surface. What I like best about what I do is that it allows me another perspective from which to view both my photography, the urban landscape and the body.
