Bio: I am passionate about creating. I believe art that has the potential to promote cultural tolerances and shift attitudes. In my new series " A Living Ritual" the art draws attention to the complexities inherent in being part of the Afro and Indo-Caribbean diaspora. In my artwork, I explore the notion of being an “in between”, a person that embodies ethnic and cultural fluidity thereby intrinsically holding a unique place in society. As the face and process of migrating has changed globally, immigrants like myself are now developing strong transnational ties to more than one "home" country. My imagery draws upon this feeling of having two homes, of being “here and there at the same time” as we walk the span of the cultural bridge. My artwork in A Living Ritual series highlights that hybrid space and hybrid self and allows the “in between” to emerge and be expressed in it’s own light.
